Founder and Chairman
Mr. Chotin founded The Chotin Group Corporation in 1984 as a firm specializing in asset securitization and structured financings. He leads the Executive Management and Investment Committees and is instrumental in all aspects of strategy and business development. Mr. Chotin is an industry leader and innovator who played a key role in the development of the secondary mortgage market in the early 1980s. Over the years, he created a group of affiliates to invest in a variety of asset classes and provide securitization services to the investment banking community. He acquired National Mortgage Corporation in the early 1990s, taking it from a prime residential mortgage servicer to a leading, nationwide subprime lending and servicing company. Under his direction, The Chotin Group and its affiliates have gained extensive background in all aspects of the mortgage finance business, including securitizing loans, originating and servicing loans, and investing in loans and securities. Early in his career, Mr. Chotin served as senior vice president of M.D.C. Holdings, Inc. (NYSE: MDC), where he played a primary role in the formation of American Southwest Financial Corporation, one of the first mortgage banking conduits serving participants nationwide. He also created HomeAmerican Mortgage Corporation, a full-service mortgage banking operation for MDC.

Helen M. Dickens
President and Chief Operating Officer
Ms. Dickens is responsible for strategic planning and implementation of all structured finance and operational activities and is a member of the Executive Management and Investment Committees. She joined The Chotin Group in 1989 and was promoted to chief operating officer in 1995 and president in 2002. She has managed all aspects of the business, including securities trading, operations and liability management, asset securitizations, accounting and human resources. Prior to joining The Chotin Group, Ms. Dickens was corporate secretary of Uniwest Financial Corporation, a savings and loan holding company with 13 branches. She was responsible for accounting, human resources and shareholder relations. Ms. Dickens holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Metropolitan State College.

Edward R. Shaoul
Executive Vice President, Strategy and Business Development
Mr. Shaoul is primarily responsible for strategy and business development, including sourcing, evaluating, marketing and executing new structured products and transactions. He also oversees investor relations for new and emerging investment opportunities and is a member of the Executive Management and Investment Committees. He has more than eight years of investment banking experience, advising clients in mergers and acquisitions, capital raising and principal investment transactions. Prior to joining The Chotin Group, Mr. Shaoul was a director at Denver-based Headwaters MB. Previously, he was a vice president at Allen & Company and an associate at Goldman, Sachs & Co. in New York. He has executed transactions representing more than $20 billion in value. He graduated summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Tufts University, attended Harvard Law School as a candidate for a Juris Doctor, and received a Master of Business Administration from the University of Denver Daniels College of Business.

David D. Frederick
Chief Financial Officer
Mr. Frederick is responsible for managing all accounting functions at The Chotin Group and is a member of the Executive Management and Investment Committees. Prior to joining The Chotin Group, he served as senior vice president and chief financial officer of Duke Energy Field Services, the nation’s largest natural gas processor headquartered in Denver. Mr. Frederick moved to Denver in 1998 from Houston, where he held various positions with Duke Energy and its predecessor company, Pan Energy Corp. He started his career with Deloitte & Touche, where he spent seven years in the audit department. Mr. Frederick graduated from the University of Houston with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting and is a Certified Public Accountant.

Jeffrey W. Stemmermann, CFA
Senior Vice President, Portfolio Manager
Mr. Stemmermann is responsible for fixed income trading and portfolio management and is a member of the Investment Committee. His primary responsibilities include credit analysis and the acquisition of assets. Prior to joining The Chotin Group, Mr. Stemmermann worked at ING Investment Management as a junior portfolio manager and analyst for four years. The Georgia Institute of Technology awarded Mr. Stemmermann both a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial and Systems Engineering and a Master of Science degree in Quantitative and Computational Finance. In addition, he has earned the right to use the Chartered Financial Analyst designation.

J. Eric Westerhausen
Vice President, Senior Analyst
Mr. Westerhausen is responsible for the firm’s servicer and originator oversight. He also manages public policy initiatives as the firm’s public affairs liaison. He brings more than 20 years of mortgage banking and financial services experience to The Chotin Group. He previously was the vice president of correspondent operations at National Mortgage Corporation, a former Chotin affiliate, where he managed whole loan purchasing, warehousing, custodial relationships and pool certification activities. Other past experience includes mortgage production management positions with Wells Fargo Home Mortgage and Huntington Mortgage Company. Currently, Mr. Westerhausen represents the firm as a member of the American Securitization Forum’s Investor Committee and Industry-wide Subprime Task Force. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from The Ohio State University.
